Jeff Steiber Appointed to PIANC USA National Commission

J.F. Brennan Company (Brennan) is proud to announce that Jeff Steiber, government relations officer and small business liaison officer, has been appointed to the United States National Commission of the World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure (PIANC USA). Steiber is one of eight appointed commissioners.

Steiber began his four-year term Oct. 1, 2026, joining industry leaders who help guide PIANC USA and advance waterborne transportation infrastructure in the United States.

For Steiber, the appointment builds on 34 years of experience in heavy marine construction, with much of his career closely connected to the nation’s inland navigation system.

“I’m truly humbled to have been nominated and appointed to this role. I look forward to sharing my knowledge of inland maritime infrastructure while learning from and collaborating with experts from around the world,” Steiber said.

Steiber was selected through the US National Commission’s nomination process. His extensive heavy marine construction experience, knowledge of inland navigation, and technical contributions to the industry, including US patents for innovative navigation gate systems, bring valuable perspective to his new role.

Founded in 1885, PIANC is an international organization that brings together professionals involved in the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of waterways, ports, and other maritime infrastructure. Originally known as the Permanent International Association of Navigation Congresses, the organization today operates under the name World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure.

PIANC USA, the US Section of the international organization, was organized in 1902 with the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). The section connects professionals from government, private industry, academia, and other organizations to share technical knowledge and address challenges affecting waterborne transportation in the United States.

The US National Commission serves as the governing body of PIANC USA, providing direction for the US Section and strengthening collaboration among government, private industry, and other waterborne transportation stakeholders.

Throughout his career with Brennan, Steiber has worked closely with the people, projects, and infrastructure that keep the nation’s waterways operating. He brings a firsthand understanding of the challenges facing inland navigation and the importance of practical, collaborative solutions to his new role on the US National Commission.
